Hello

Aristotle told us that, "Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom". What he didn't tell us was that this is a journey that lasts a lifetime and what a journey! There will be highs and there will be lows. That's life and it will take you on an amazing path of self discovery full of unexpected twists and turns. This is the hero's journey and you are the hero in your story. I can help you on that journey so if you'd like to know more about me, you're in the right place. Grab a cuppa and get comfy.

Once upon a time...

I was born and raised in Worcestershire, in the heart of England, the younger of two boys and enjoyed the freedoms afforded to those children who grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. My childhood was spent either outdoors in nature or indoors with my nose in a book.

I was a slightly eccentric child, wearing a different hat every day based on my mood, and enjoyed an eclectic mix of hobbies like stone polishing, bird watching, breeding exotic butterflies and moths, amateur dramatics and falconry. People would bring me sick and injured animals to nurse back to health and this resulted in quite the menagerie over time including dogs, a cat, ducks, a crow, owls and a hawk. Family holidays were mostly spent camping and caravanning around the UK and at a holiday cottage on the west coast of Wales.

My early employment included being a labourer, waiter, falconer, equestrian groom and barman. After finishing school and completing a diploma in Business Studies, I worked in fashion and hospitality before deciding to go to America, on my own, for nearly a year. This was monumental in shaping the person I am today and ignited a wanderlust that is with me still. Since then I have travelled extensively including a stay in Sri Lanka, which became the home of the Rob Holcroft Award for Voice and Speech.

After returning from the US, I worked in retail, customer services, travel incentives and then health and safety in the manufacturing industry, before being encouraged to audition for Drama School. I was successful and to help fund my time there, I set up my own gardening business, which I continued to run alongside my career as a professional actor and director for several years. My more exciting performing projects saw me rescuing someone from a burning car, touring with the Birmingham Royal Ballet and working out in Hollywood, Los Angeles over a few years as a writer and director.

Whilst at Drama School, I discovered a fascination for the mind and body and focused my studies on posture, body alignment, the mechanics of breathing, voice production, speech development and the psychology of character. I also found a love of stage combat, achieving a silver-medal in advanced stage fighting with the British Academy of Dramatic Combat.

It was running a stage fighting workshop at a local college that led me into teaching performing arts and business in further and higher education for 12 years. During this time I took the opportunity to become a qualified teacher, aerobics and Pilates instructor, Neuro Linguistics Programming practitioner and level 3 teaching mentor, supporting trainee teachers. I went on to achieve a Masters Degree in Education specialising in Mentoring and Coaching and becoming a forerunner in posture related stress research.

Eventually, I left teaching to run my own life coaching practice, write a series of books to help young people improve their mindset and behaviours and gave a TEDx talk. alongside being the resident physical therapist and life coach on an international anxiety recovery programme, for four and a half years. Through my work I became the health and wellbeing expert on ITV Central News and BBC Radio and delivering workshops for organisations across many sectors, including Worcester Bosch, Hastings Direct and The White Company.

I now run successful clinics in Worcestershire and North Devon, helping ease pain and discomfort using a magical, muscle reset therapy called the EMMETT Technique and my coaching skills.
